The research groups of Prof. Michael Davies (Protein Oxidation Group) and Prof. Clare Hawkins (Redox Biology Group) are looking to employ a person to support our work in the areas of protein modifications and proteomics. The position is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years starting February 2026, or after agreement.

Our research
The Protein Oxidation Group (led by Michael Davies) and Redox Biology Group (led by Clare Hawkins) carry out research focused on understanding and characterizing the mechanisms and consequences of protein modification, a process known to be of major importance in cardiovascular disease as well as other human diseases associated with inflammation. We use a range of analytical, biochemical, molecular, cellular and tissue studies to examine these processes, with an overall aim of understanding and preventing protein modification and tissue damage. This work includes multiple clinical collaborations. Details of the groups can be found at: Davies Group and Hawkins Group

Your job
As staff scientist you will assist researchers in the two groups with experimental work, train new students, and assist in optimizing and developing new methods for the analysis of samples containing native and modified proteins by a variety of analytical methods and particularly high-level mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). You will have some responsibility for laboratory organization and safety, maintenance and running of HPLC and LC-MS instruments and some administrative tasks. Relevant training will be given.
