Expected start date and duration of employmentThis is a permanent position from November 1st 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Job descriptionThe successful applicant will join a team conducting quantitative research on nature management based on the resource habitat framework. This includes developing and applying novel methods to monitor and map how habitat quality, and productivity respond to different management regimes.
The scientific approach centres on plant-insect interaction ecology and community ecology. Topics relevant to the position include (but are not limited to):
- Biodiversity monitoring and evaluation
- Ressource habitat biology
- Soil-plant-insect interactions
- Insect-insect interactions
- Ant ecology
Your profileApplicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and, relative to their career stage, demonstrate a strong track record in ecological research. Experience in acquiring external funding and collaboration with public authorities or stakeholders is considered an asset.
Candidates should have a solid understanding of ecosystem dynamics and demonstrated knowledge of both plants and insects taxonomy.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
- Ability to conduct applied research to support monitoring and nature management
- Strong motivation for advisory work with public authorities and stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated technical skills in field work, GIS, multivariate statistics, Bayesian statistics and modelling.
Who we areThe Department of Ecoscience is engaged in research programmes and advisory work covering the major biological subdisciplines. We conduct world-class research in the areas of aquatic biology and ecology, arctic environment and ecosystems, biodiversity and conservation biology. The Department currently employs approximately 275 academic and technical staff, as well as many PhD students. The Senior Advisor will be part of a dynamic, internationally engaged scientific environment, working in the Section for Terrestrial Ecology.

Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
