The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications from experts in molecular synthetic organic, inorganic chemistry and electrochemistry. The position is available from 1 February or immediately hereafter.
The position is available for 1 year with the possibility for extension.
The candidate will participate in a national project funded by the CAPeX Pioneer center (https://capex.dtu.dk/). The project involves design, synthesis, characterization, and testing of molecular transition metal coordination compounds, as electrocatalysts for oxidation and reduction reactions. The research will focus on:
Developing synthetic routes to robust new chelating and bifunctional ligands.
Employing advanced spectroscopic, electrochemical and X-ray diffraction and fluorescence techniques in the investigation of structure–reactivity relationships.
Performing and analyzing electrocatalysis experiments using gaseous reagents and/or products.
Analytical chemistry, e.g., GCMS, HPLC and ECMS.
Designing immobilization strategies.
Collaborating on mechanistic and computational studies.
Collaborating within the CAPeX pioneer center
The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and strong collaborative ties across inorganic, coordination, organometallic and enzyme chemistry. Expected competences include a strong experience in organic synthesis and coordination chemistry, electrochemistry and electrocatalysis, and a solid background in structural and spectroscopic methods of characterization.
The supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and some undergraduate teaching can be expected.
