Postdoc in RNA and Immunology at BRIC
  • KU - SCIENCE BIO - BRIC
  • Ole Maaløes Vej 5, 2200 Kbh. N
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a two year position, who is expected to commence in January 2026.

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Professor Cristian Bellodi at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow interested in elucidating how dysregulation of RNA modifications impacts normal and malignant hematopoiesis. The successful candidate will have access to unique genetic models and state-of-the-art technologies, including advanced biochemistry, next-generation sequencing, single-cell approaches, and proteomics. These tools will be applied to dissect RNA modification–dependent pathways in the immune system at high resolution.

Information on the department can be found at: https://www.bric.ku.dk

Our research

Our research group investigates novel posttranscriptional mechanisms of gene expression control in stem and cancer cells at molecular, cellular, and organismal levels. We have uncovered key roles for RNA modifications and translational control in regulating normal and malignant stem cell function (Guzzi et al., Cell 2018; Cieśla et al., Mol Cell 2021). Building on this foundation, we are now expanding into new research directions exploring the in vivo role of RNA modifications and metabolism in development and cancer.

Our laboratory is part of the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC), an internationally recognized research center in the strategic area of biomedicine and cancer at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark’s largest institution for education and research. We offer a vibrant and international research environment, bringing together postdocs, technical staff, PhD students, and master’s students with a shared interest in understanding how RNA epigenetics influences development and disease. As members of BRIC, our group benefits from an interdisciplinary setting with state-of-the-art core facilities, as well as access to courses, seminars, and workshops led by national and international experts in RNA biology, immunology, and cancer research.

Your job

Our team strives to uncover the posttranscriptional programs that govern hematopoietic cell fate and malignant transformation. As a postdoctoral fellow, your task will be to spearhead an innovative research project at the intersection of RNA biology and immunology. Specifically, you will:

  • Define how RNA modifications regulate blood stem cells and lineage commitment
  • Uncover RNA epitranscriptomic pathways driving immunity and leukemic transformation
  • Explore transcriptome and translatome changes in stem cells under stress
  • Optimize cutting-edge molecular profiling approaches to study hematopoietic populations
Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • PhD in Immunology, Microbiology or Molecular Biology (preferably less than two years)
  • Strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry (e.g., RNA/DNA isolation, cloning, gene silencing, CRISPR gene editing, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with mouse genetics (e.g., handling, breeding, dissection, transplantation, etc.) and hematopoietic stem cell culture (murine and human);
  • Expertise with advanced flow cytometry and single cell analysis;
  • Active interest in the application and development of transcriptome-wide approaches to study RNA (e.g., CLIP-seq, ribosome profiling, single cell RNA-seq, PRAISE, Nanopore, etc.);
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in teams;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken english;
Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience with genome-wide gene-editing and drug screening approaches;
  • Experience in quantitative proteomics and advanced microscopy methods;
  • Hands-on experience with viral preparation and infection systems;
  • Experience in bioinformatics, including programming in R, Python, and/or Bash, as well as familiarity with statistical analysis and high-throughput sequencing data pipelines;
  • Documented experience in scientific writing, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, fellowships, and/or prizes.
