The Erler lab at BRIC is looking for a highly motivated and innovative researcher at the Assistant Professor level for a 1-year position to join the Erler Group to commence on 1 January 2026.

Our research
We focus on understanding how cancer spreads through the body and grows at new sites, as this process (known as metastasis) is responsible for most cancer patient deaths. We take an interdisciplinary approach to answer clinically relevant questions. There is a strong focus on teamwork, diversity, and inclusion within the group.

The team is highly international, and we have a broad range of local and international collaborators. We believe that cooperation and collegiality are essential elements for research successes. Your job
The assistant professor should be highly skilled at cloning and cell biology, with a strong track record in researching the extracellular matrix in cancer and experience in RNA biology.

The assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination duties
  • Research-based teaching, including mentoring and supervision of PhD students and others, as well as teaching master’s as well as undergraduate courses
  • Sharing knowledge with society
  • Participation in formal pedagogical training programme for assistant professors
  • Contribute to common activities at BRIC and at Faculty level

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

Essential experience and skills:
• You have a PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry
• Prior experience in ECM regulation of metastasis
• Prior experience in RNA biology


Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre, University of Copenhagen (www.bric.ku.dk). We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 1 year. The start date is 1 January 2026.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organization. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 40,700 DKK/approx. 5,500 EUR (April 2025 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2025.

The further process
