Laboratory of Immunology, Section of Biomedicine,
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen We are offering a 1-year position as Research Assistant in the field of experimental immunology with a focus on γ/δ T-cell and NK cell biology commencing on February 1st, 2026.
Our group and research The position will be placed in the Laboratory of Immunology at the Section of Biomedicine. Our group investigates the regulation of different leukocytes during infection and inflammation, and we are particularly interested in identifying novel regulatory receptors used by NK cells, γ/δ T-cell, macrophages and T-cells.
Job description NK- and γ/δ T-cells are regulated by a combination of positive and negative-acting receptors, which give them the ability to target cancer- and infected cells. Due to the nature of NK- and γ/δ T-cell regulation, donor cells can be used in multiple recipients (allogeneic) – which is in contrasts to conventional α/ß T-cells that can only be used in the individual that have donated the cells (autologous). This makes NK and γ/δ T-cells ideal for “of the shelf” treatments, where a large-scale manufacturing of cell products can be administered to an array of patients.
Ex vivo expansion of these cells meet several challenges to achieve sufficient cell numbers and purity for clinical relevance. The project will attempt to address these challenges and to find novel or optimize current field standard methods in this endeavour.
