A postdoc in Secondary cell wall formation and regulation

PLEN (Section of Plant Glycobiology) and NBI, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a Postdoc position. The postdoc position will be associated with the Plant Cellulose/Cell Biology research group (Prof. Staffan Persson) at the Glycobiology Section, PLEN. The work aims to investigate how secondary walls are formed. The research will range from molecular biology and advanced cell biology. In particular, the candidate will work with a range of microscopy-based tools, from state-of-the-art confocal microsocpes to super-resolution microscopy.

The successful candidate will work in a highly cross-disciplinary team that includes the full range of computational biology, microscopy, molecular biology and biochemistry (approx 20 people). For the position, it is expected that you have a strong background in cell biology and microscopy, with experiences in super-resolution microscopy with a strong publication record. The successful candidate will be part of an exciting team to understand mechanisms that underpin secondary cell wall formation focusing on certain cell wall polymers, and in cytoskeletal arrangements and functions. You will also be expected to engage in teaching, supervision of students and lab technicians, as well as actively apply for funding.

Required Qualifications

  • A PhD degree in Cell and molecular biology.
  • Practical experience in advanced microsocpy, super-resolution microscopy, cloning and plant growth experiences.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Terms of employment
Employment period is 2 years.

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
