GreyBird Pilot Academy is seeking an experienced, structured, and empathetic Chief Training Manager (HT Deputy) to join our ATO Core Team. This role is essential in leading and coordinating the work of our Training Managers and Student Success Managers, while also acting as a key support figure for students facing academic challenges. You will be responsible for driving compliance, quality, and student progression within our training programs.
Appointed by the Head of Training (HT) and reporting directly to them, the Chief Training Manager serves as a central figure in ensuring the effectiveness of our educational framework and maintaining our high standards of training delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support the team of Training Managers and Student Success Managers.
Ensure that all training activities under your responsibility comply with applicable regulations, approved Training Manuals, and organizational requirements.
Monitor the performance and effectiveness of Training Managers and ensure proper follow-up on underperforming students.
Intervene directly with students identified as struggling, after initial support from their assigned Training Manager.
Collaborate closely with the HT to escalate cases only when necessary, and hand over students only after all internal support options have been exhausted.
Serve as a Training Manager for a selected group of students, providing guidance, monitoring, and personal support.
Be available to support instructors in managing students who require additional academic or personal guidance.
Ensure seamless communication between HT, instructors, Training Managers, and Student Success Managers.
Support the implementation and changes to the Operation Manuals OM(D) and ensure training-related documentation is properly followed.
Act as the primary compliance liaison for student progression and training outcomes.
Who You Are
A natural leader with a structured approach and strong interpersonal skills.
Experienced in training program management, preferably in an aviation or educational environment.
Adept at handling sensitive cases involving student performance and capable of making informed decisions under pressure.
Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks in aviation training.
Empathetic and supportive, while maintaining a clear sense of accountability and high standards.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Able to work closely with diverse teams and coordinate across departments.
