A position as senior researcher at Psychiatry EAST at Region Zealand Mental Health Service is open for appointment from 1st March 2026. It is a 90% position combined with a 10% professorship at the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Communication, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Psychiatry EAST at Region Zealand Mental Health Service wishes to strengthen the leadership in cross-disciplinary research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. We are now expanding our research capacity within psychopathology, including the theoretical basis of psychiatry.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the position as senior researcher.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Psychiatry East in Roskilde is led by a chief psychiatrist and a chief nurse. The general adult psychiatric department is the publicly funded tertiary mental health service for the citizens in the Eastern part of Region Zealand, i.e. the urban areas of Roskilde and Køge. The department has five in-patient units with a total of 69 beds, and an emergency unit with 12 beds, and several outpatient clinics, community mental health services, outreach services, and specialized treatment units. It has comprehensive pre- and post-graduate teaching obligations concerning medical students, doctors, and other health professionals. The staff also has teaching and research obligations at the University of Copenhagen. The department is organized with a team management for each ward and outpatient department, comprising a lead nurse and a consultant. Importantly, Psychiatry East in Roskilde encompasses the regional Knowledge and Research Centre for Early Psychosis and the regional Clinic for Early Detection of Psychosis [Tidlig opsporing af Psykose – TOP] which is a self-referring unit for people 15-65 years old and information center for their next-of-kin and larger network.
Qualifications:
For the position as senior researcher at Psychiatry East:
Applicants must have a Phd-degree, and solid research experience in psychopathology and the theoretical foundations of psychiatry at an internationally recognized level. Furthermore, the candidate must have extensive experience in collaboration with clinicians and clinical researchers as well as teaching and training of clinicians. The research plan must include research in psychopathology and psychiatry.
Conditions:
To be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the hospital (the senior researcher position) and to the Faculty (the professorship) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship in philosophy (see below). Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed at Psychiatry East.
Salary and conditions of employment as senior researcher are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As senior researcher at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to research, while 25 % might be allocated to pre-graduate and post-graduate teaching and supervision as detailed in agreement with the Head of Psychiatry East.
