Are you motivated by contributing to a sustainable future? Do you want to help us ensure that our new sustainable, electric trainsets are delivered as agreed with the supplier?

If so, please keep reading, as we are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team and ensure the success of one of our most strategically important and complex projects.

Welcome to the New Trains Program Several of Denmark's biggest investment programs are happening right now, and you will have a crucial role in ensuring a sustainable and attractive future for public transport in Denmark.

DSB is investing in several programs to ensure the Danes have an environmentally friendly and attractive alternative to cars, buses, and aircraft when travelling across Denmark.

In addition to the investment in the new fleet of electric trainsets, we are also investing in the acquisition of electric locomotives, coaches, new maintenance facilities, and an upgrade of the S-Bane into an automated system. It is more complex than it may sound, and it is exciting, meaningful, and requires some of the best skills from Denmark and abroad.

We work in a matrix organization where the rest of the project team will come from a skilled Center of Excellence, which has been established to ensure a smooth delivery of the major investment programs.

You will have comprehensive possibilities to develop as we are working in an international team with many different backgrounds, professions, and skills, and with a modern learning culture where feedback and lessons learned are highly prioritized.

Your everyday life as Senior Project Manager You will work with DSB’s largest and one of our most strategically important investments with a combined CAPEX and OPEX of around 20 bn. DKK.

We replace our aging fleet with new, reliable, and environmentally friendly trainsets. After years of preparation, political approval processes, and tendering, the winner was announced in the summer of 2021.

The winner – and the Supplier of our new fleet – is Alstom. Since the award of the contract in 2021, we have worked closely with Alstom, focusing on agreeing on the details related to the design, Alstom has produced a pre-series of trains and will start serial production shortly.

We monitor Alstom’s deliveries, obligations, and quality during all phases of the project. Additionally, we need to ensure that we are delivering on our own obligations and that we are ready to accept and put the new trainsets into commercial operations. This is exactly why we need you.

In addition to delivering the trainsets, Alstom is also responsible for the maintenance of the trainsets.

Networking and collaborating internally within the project are essential - as is the collaboration with the Supplier and with key stakeholders in the DSB line organization to ensure progress.

About the job You will have the complex task of ensuring the effective delivery of our project.

Your focus will be on the supply of the trainsets. This will involve close cooperation with your colleagues responsible for the new maintenance facilities, the implementation of the new maintenance model, as well as ensuring readiness within DSB’s internal organization.

You will become part of an international project team of around 65 colleagues. The working language is English. You will refer to the Project Director and Vice President, Pia Toft Pedersen.

Your specific tasks will include

  • Having the responsibility of the contract for rolling stock being executed
  • Having insight in – and focus on – the main drivers to ensure that our Supplier delivers on his obligations in the contract.
  • Securing DSB delivers a first-class setup with focus on technical quality of the trains, that DSB can participate in an intensive test & inspection setup and, in general, is ready to receive and put in commercial operation the new trainsets.
  • Networking and collaborating internally within the project well as with the Supplier and with key stakeholders in the DSB line organization to ensure progress.
Who are you? To thrive, it is important that you

  • Are motivated and committed to ensuring the project is delivered effectively.
  • Have a good mix of an analytical and pragmatic approach coupled with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Are cooperative and able to work in a matrix organization with functional leaders and understand the importance of the interaction between the many stakeholders in a large and complex project.
  • Can make decisions and, with a professional approach can solve the challenges and conflicts that naturally occur in a project of this size.
  • Are good at communication and can lead, motivate, and engage the project team.
  • Can develop relationships and network both formally and informally.
  • Oversee progress and keep things moving.
  • Are motivated by working in a large and diverse organization where reliable operations and customer satisfaction are key drivers.
  • Are motivated by long-term targets.
  • Can retain the overview and a positive and solution-oriented attitude even under pressure.

In addition, it is important that you

  • Have documented experience with project management of large and complex investment projects.
  • Work well with different professions and have multi-technical interest and an understanding of the interaction between different professions, e.g. legal, commercial and technical matters as well as safety, QA, project management related areas like planning, risk management and change management.
  • Are fluent in English and preferable also in Danish.
It would be seen as an advantage if your experience mentioned above is from rolling stock/infrastructure projects, alternatively, from other CAPEX projects of a similar, complex nature.
