Do you want to help ensure the reliable and secure operation of one of Denmark’s most advanced data infrastructures for personalized medicine? And are you passionate about working with structured and unstructured databases, metadata and dataflows? The Danish National Genome Center is looking for an experienced Senior Data Steward with strong technical expertise to manage and monitor our national genome database. The role You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and monitoring of the genome database, which is a key part of Denmark’s personalized medicine infrastructure.
The system is based on an
S3 object store, a
PostgreSQL metadata database, and several custom-built components for
encryption, data transfer, and automation. You will collaborate closely with developers, system administrators, and regional partners to ensure that data flows run efficiently and securely — from collection at hospitals and regional centers to storage and processing at NGC.
Key responsibilities - Data governance & stewardship: establishing frameworks for data classification, lifecycle management, data ownership, and change control.
- Metadata / schema management: PostgreSQL/JSONB schemas, versioning/migrations, reference models, and data contracts.
- Data flows / movers from regional partners: harmonization, validation, deduplication, data quality measurement, and clear error-correction feedback loops.
- Access & compliance: working with colleagues responsible for user management / Keycloak administration to define roles and policies; ensuring GDPR/DPIA prerequisites and audit readiness.
- Database operations & maintenance: managing the genome database (S3 object store and PostgreSQL metadata database).
- Monitoring & troubleshooting: handling errors and monitoring data flows from the regions to NGC.
- Security & encryption: administration and further development of encryption mechanisms and security protocols.
- Automation: streamlining operational tasks with Ansible playbooks.
- Identity & access management: integrating and maintaining Keycloak for authentication and authorization.
- Collaboration & version control: using Git for versioning and team collaboration.
- Documentation: producing and maintaining documentation of operational procedures and technical components.
