Section for Pathobiology
 Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen     We are looking for a researcher with experience in veterinary pathological anatomy, particularly in relation to notifiable infectious diseases of livestock for the veterinary pathology service of the DK-VET Consortium (Patologivagten), University of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg.
 Patologivagten performs necropsies and other diagnostic examinations of wildlife, domestic animals, and zoo animals.
  The position as researcher is a full-time, fixed-term appointment (4 years) starting 1 May 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

 The primary responsibilities of the researcher include:  
 	- Participation in the daily operations of Patologivagten, including tasks related to BSL2 and BSL3 necropsy facilities, diagnostic histopathology, diagnostic examinations and reporting, record keeping, and advising partners and clients.
  	- Participation in research-based public sector consultancy related to surveillance and control of livestock diseases, and in activities connected to the Danish veterinary contingency plan, including dissemination of research results to authorities, industry, and the public.
  	- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge across a broad scientific field, analysing scientific issues, and communicating results based on a sound scientific foundation.
  	- Training of junior colleagues and internal knowledge sharing within the group.
  	- Research activities within veterinary pathology, including initiation and execution of projects and preparation of scientific publications.
  	- Research-based teaching and dissemination, including preparation of scientific and popular science publications.
  	- Participation in academic assessment committees and professional evaluations.
  	- participation in formal pedagogical training programme for researchers
  
  Assessment of applicants will consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research, relevant qualifications and experiences. The ability to attract external funding will be considered together with outreach qualifications. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory.

  Required qualifications and experience are:  
 	- Documented research qualifications within veterinary pathology, including a PhD degree and relevant publication record.
  	- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  	- Comprehensive experience in diagnostic and research pathology (applicants with experience in relevant animal species are preferred, particularly Scandinavian wildlife and companion animals).
  	- Solid experience with the diagnostics of notifiable animal diseases, including associated research activities.
  	- Experience working in BSL2 and BSL3 necropsy facilities.
  	- Experience in research-based public sector consultancy.
  	- Experience with surveillance and diagnostics of notifiable livestock diseases, including practical experience with necropsy and sample collection during suspicion cases.
  	- As the position involves close collaboration with national veterinary authorities, high level in written and spoken Danish and English is required, also applicants must hold a Danish veterinary authorization.
