The Department of Clinical Epidemiology (Department of Clinical Medicine) at the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a Research Assistant in Cochrane systematic review methodology
starting on the 1th of April 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a 1-year full-time position.
Department of Clinical MedicineAs a Research Assistant at the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our research takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The department has overall responsibility for the Master's degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. here.The Department of Clinical Epidemiology is a research department at Aarhus University Hospital, within the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University. Researchers in the department use advanced epidemiological methods to study different topics related to health research. The department is engaged in a variety of activities regarding epidemiological research, including surgical patient safety and infections research. Furthermore, the department is involved in counselling health care professionals to improve the quality of health care, treatment, and research. Most projects in the department are carried out in cooperation with Danish and international collaborators. Your job responsibilitiesYour work tasksAs a research assistant, your primary tasks will be within the Cochrane systematic review methodology. You will become a part of the Cochrane Aarhus Center, which contributes to research on Cochrane methodology and evidence-based medicine, deliver teaching on systematic reviews methods, and provide consultancy for developing and evaluating systematic reviews. You will contribute to the development of the Cochrane Aarhus Center through teaching and research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will interact closely with skilled colleagues under supervision of Professors Alma B. Pedersen and Mette Nørgaard.
Your tasks will mainly consist of:
- Working with teaching and consultancy within Cochrane methodology, including developing, evaluating, and publishing systematic reviews
- Research within Cochrane methodology and evidence-based medicine
- Preparing a PhD-project within osteoporotic hip fractures and postoperative infections using Cochrane methodology
You will report to Professor Henrik Toft SørensenYour qualifications- A medical degree and/or a master in epidemiology, health science or a related field
- A special interest in Cochrane systematic review methods, infections, epidemiology, and data science
- As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are approachable, and able to contribute to a positive working environment.
- We expect you to speak and write English fluently.
- To be qualified for the position, you must fulfil these professional criteria.
Formal requirementsThe position is initially available as a Research Assistant for a 1-year period. Enrolment as a Ph.D. student for an additional 3 years will be agreed upon between the candidate and the main supervisor (Alma B. Pedersen). Additionally, note that it is a prerequisite that the Ph.D. candidate is enrolled as a Ph.D. student at Aarhus University Graduate School of Health (
http://phd.health.au.dk/) in a separate procedure before starting as a Ph.D. student. The successful candidate will work on that together with the main supervisor.
