The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) and the Royal Danish Embassy in Indonesia (RDE) are seeking a Long-Term Energy Adviser to be stationed in Jakarta, with Indonesia’s State-Owned Power Company (PLN).

About the Job We are seeking a profile with solid experience and expertise within either power system operations or wind development, with a capacity to engage across both areas. You will be stationed at Indonesia’s State-Owned Power Company (PLN) and work with experts from local authorities in Indonesia while having a close dialogue and cooperation with the Danish Energy Agency and the Embassy of Denmark in Indonesia.

Indonesia has ambitious targets for deployment of variable renewable energy, and expects to build 17.1 GW solar and 7.2 GW wind before 2034. Electricity demand is expected to grow, the transmission and distribution grid expanded, generation increased while key priorities are reliability and affordability.

You will give technical support to PLN and take responsibility in coordinating activities closely with engaged partners. You will be stationed in PLN and will support both system operation activities and wind development activities, to support PLN and Indonesia to fulfill their own targets. You will work and make a local impact by analyzing and giving recommendations to the current power system operation and wind deployment.

About You We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with:

  • Advanced Education: A master level degree or corresponding qualifications in energy/environmental management, economics, political science, engineering and/or subjects relevant to renewable energy could be relevant.
  • Renewable Energy Integration Expertise: Solid knowledge of the Danish energy system and the Danish energy policy incl. integration of renewable energy in the power system is a requirement.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze complex energy systems and formulate actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in the Danish Energy Sector: At least 5 years of experience working in the Danish energy sector is a requirement. Experience from the Indonesian energy sector is an advantage, but not required.
