The Section for Geogenetics, Globe Institute has a vacant position as project manager to deliver reseach support for the APOLLO Ancient Genomics Initiative for the Evolutionary Understanding of Human Diseasesand interrelated . The position is temporary for 4.5 years, commencing December 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.



Background APOLLO is a pioneering research project headed by Associate professor Martin Sikora that brings together a highly interdisciplinary and international team with a shared vision to uncover the evolutionary origins of human disease risk by integrated analyses of ancient human, pathogen and environmental DNA.



About us The workplace is the Section for GeoGenetics, a world-leading research environment focusing on ancient DNA, and home to several highly collaborating academic groups with backgrounds in genetics, evolutionary biology, computer science, statistics, ecology, and more. In APOLLO we want to build on and extend three existing unique ancient genome panels that allow us to interrogate the major factors influencing disease risk: ancient human genomes, revealing changes in human genetic variation; ancient microbial genomes, providing information on past pathogen exposure and microbial commensals; and ancient environmental DNA, for reconstrucing past environmental conditions.



The position We are recruiting a structured, highly ommitted full-time project manager with prior research project management experiences from a university setting to become an integral part of a growing team supporting the management and administration of multi-disciplinary projects housed at the Section for GeoGenetics. The position will cover a variety of tasks of high operational importance and includes the following essential functions:

  • Create structures to coordinate project activities i.e. help outline and align project activity plans according to priorities, resources, time, and deliverables in close collaboration with members of the Apollo project team.
  • Track progress and ensure transparency in project documentation and access to information.
  • Facilitate interaction between the project team members at all levels; organize and facilitate/lead meetings, prepare agendas, distribute summaries.
  • Coordinate and prepare project progression reports and outreach material.
  • Support strategic analysis and planning with core leaders and colleagues to ensure progress, overcome bottlenecks and anticipate challenges.
  • Suport and facilitate collaboration across projects that interconnet with Apollo to timely deliver research reportings, seminars, workshops, and and other collaborative activities.
  • Provide support and ad hoc and PA like tasks through administration of very busy calendars, travel planning, booking and accounting.


Qualifications The position requires ability to keep good overview of the tasks and an ability to work independently in a structured manner; sound judgement, and flexibility. Specific qualifications

include:

  • Academic background within the biological sciences.
  • Documented experience with project management and coordination within a university research organisation.
  • Documented experience with organising larger research dessimination events (e.g. conferences, larger seminars or similar).
  • Strong coordination and communication skills as well as strict adherence to ethical business and research practices.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, strong attention to details and excellent time management skills.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.


Terms of employment The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.



Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
