The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences calls for applications for a 2-year position as a postdoctoral researcher in anti-methanogenic potential of bromoform and novel non-bromoform red seaweed species (CircleFeed-GMH). The position is available from 15 August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is in the research section Gut and Host Health.  


Position

The position covers research focusing on promising seaweed products to determine their targeted mode of action on ruminal archaea (methanogens) to establish the basis for methane mitigation effects in vitro and in vivo. The research initially includes in vitro screening for effects of selected seaweed products on pure cultures of methanogens. Further, based on an in vivo trial, the work aims to generate comprehensive compositional and functional analysis of the rumen microbiome by integrated metagenome, metatranscriptome, and metabolome data correlated with enteric methane emission in dairy cows fed the novel seaweed product formulations.


Your profile as postdoc

• Academic qualifications at PhD level
• Background in microbiology and/or microbial bioinformatics
• In particular: capable of and interested in working with integration of larger omics datasets (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metabolomics)

Formalities and salary range

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any).
