We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 2+1 years position with starting date Oct. 1st, 2025.

The successful candidate will work on problems related to gravitational wave astrophysics as member of the Astrophysical Gravitational Wave group, and the Center-of-Gravity.

Our research

Where and how do black holes form and merge in the Universe? These are some of the key questions that currently are being addressed in the groups the successful candidate will be joining. The groups are composed of people with various strengths in theoretical strong gravity and astrophysics, and the candidate is therefore expected to have a strong theoretical background.

Your job

The successful candidate will have the freedom to explore topics of interest within the general research interests of the groups, which broadly covers all topics within strong gravity, and gravitational wave astrophysics.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with strong background in gravitational wave physics and strong gravity. All topics related to formation of black hole mergers and other gravitational wave sources are of high interest, both from the computational- and the theoretical site.

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years with 1 more year depending on performance and funding. The starting date is Oct. 1st, 2025, or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 34,300 DKK/approx. 4,700 EUR (October 2021 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
