A 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Metasurfaces from February 1, 2026 until January 31, 2028 is open at SDU Nano Optics, Mads Clausen Institute, (Nano Optics webpage) at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense Campus).

The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to carry out numerical simulations, nanofabrication and experimental characterization of optical metasurfaces with embedded quantum emitters designed for the purposes of efficient generation of single photon streams and shaping the single-photon emission in polarization and angular momentum spaces. The aim is to develop novel ultracompact on-chip single-photon sources emitting in high-dimensional space for use in quantum information technologies. The research will be conducted in accordance with the research program of project “Dynamic Quantum Metasurfaces” supported by Carlsberg Foundation and coordinated by Associate Professor Fei Ding feid@mci.sdu.dk.

Potential candidates for the Postdoctoral Fellowship described above are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within the fields of optical metasurfaces and quantum nanophotonics as well as a strong academic record. Experience in advanced nanofabrication, as well as design, modelling and optical characterization of quantum metasurfaces for single-photon generation will be considered an advantage.

The Postdoctoral Fellow is also expected to be actively involved in the supervision of MSc and PhD students affiliated with SDU Nano Optics as well as in writing grant applications supporting the research at SDU Nano Optics.
