Are you passionate about teaching using creative methods/games and do you have a strong interest in antimicrobial resistance impacting public health? Then you might be our new colleague in the National Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance at Statens Serum Institut. As part of the EU funded Joint Action Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infections (JAMRAI-2), a project with more than 120 partners across Europe, Statens Serum Institut (SSI) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) are responsible for developing training activities that can support pre- and post- graduates in infection control with emphasis on outbreak investigations and interventions.
We are currently looking for an academic team member to develop training material for students or health care professionals interested to learn about infection control and antimicrobial resistant microorganisms. The target learners will be healthcare personnel involved in preventing healthcare associated infections and containing and combating antimicrobial resistant bacteria in hospital settings around Europe. The training will aim to train healthcare professionals to work and communicate effectively in muliti-disciplinary teams with members of different professions (clinical microbiologists, bioinformaticians, epidemiologists, infection prevention and control nurses).
The position is located in the
National Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance (NRL-AMR) in the Department for Bacteria, Parasites and Fungi. The NRL-AMR team includes bioinformaticians, epidemiologists, engineers, medics, veterinarians, scientists in various fields biomedical scientists and laboratory technicians. The NRL-AMR core activities include monitoring of bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance in bacteria from humans and livestock.
About the position You will work with various scientific disciplines in close collaboration with medical experts in an inspiring workplace. You will work in a multidisciplinary team with colleagues at SSI and DTU and be responsible for developing the intended learning outcomes and content of training material on setting up surveillance and handling of hospital outbreaks with AMR bacteria.
Education, experience and personal qualifications You have a Master's and a PhD degree in science in microbiology, epidemiology, public health, pharmacy, nursing or related fields and experience from working with infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship and quality parameters in hospitals. You have expertise and experience in one of the following areas:
- Public health interventions and/or quality improvement in healthcare systems
- Infection prevention and control
- Designing/ delivering material for training exercises or training hubs and providing user support
- Knowledge within the field of microorganisms and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and healthcare associated infection
- Experience with literature search and evidence appraisal
- Familiarity with guidelines and standard operating procedures for healthcare settings
- Documentation of procedures or systems
You are creative and good at generating ideas and proposing solutions, and enjoy learning new skills as part of your job.
You are conscientious and deliver work of high quality within the deadlines.

Statens Serum Institut (SSI) is under the auspices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Health. Our main duty is to ensure preparedness against infectious diseases and biological threats as well as control of congenital disorders. Our mission is to strengthen health through disease control and research.
Terms of employment Depending on your educational background and level of experience, salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) (overenskomst for akademikere i staten).
Duration: 15 months.
