We are offering a PhD fellowship or Postdoc in experimental brain tumor research commencing August 2025.
Our group and research The selected candidates will be part of professor, consultant neuropathologist Bjarne Winther Kristensen’s research group (https://www.bric.ku.dk/research-groups/Research/kristensen-group). Bjarne Winther Kristensen will be the principal supervisor. A main interest in the group is how the role of the tumor microenvironment influences brain tumor aggressiveness and therapy response and how this change between different types, subtypes, and regions of brain tumors. Most of our projects focus on glioblastoma and the current position focus on tumor cells infiltrating the brain.
Your job You will join a multi-disciplinary research team that work with both patient tumor tissue, experimental
in vitro and
in vivo brain tumor models and advanced bioinformatics.
The main tasks in the PhD or postdoc project will be establishment of a patient cohort with glioblastoma tissue, spatial profiling, bioinformatics collaboration and working with patient-like experimental
in vitro and
in vivo brain cancer models to be used for drug testing. This will include microscopy, histology, immunohistochemistry and imaging techniques, cell culturing and different
in vitro assays, as well as molecular techniques. The candidate will be expected to work closely together with collaborators in the clinical setting and collect patient samples.
The candidate is required to have documented experience with the area of the PhD/postdoc project. You should be self-motived and be able to coordinate multiple collaborations and drive the project forward.
