Are you a skilled and experienced professional with a background in microbial strain development? In this role, you will support industrial projects and play a key part in strain development activities associated with the Biofoundry. 

Enable strain development pipelines towards creating microbial cell factories
You will focus on development and engineering of microbial strains, primarily Escherichia coli but also other microbial strains towards production of sustainable chemicals. The nature of projects can vary with the focus on product or technology development. You will collaborate closely with Pre Pilot Plant and other Biofoundry teams.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Apply genome engineering tools to engineer microbial strains to enhance strain productivity and robustness
  • Build out DNA Foundry capabilities in strain development pipelines using latest technologies
  • Execute strain development projects in biofoundry using automation instruments, e.g. different liquid handlers and colony picker
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and ensure meeting project milestones
  • Evolve and improve workflows in response to requirements and new technologies.

Solid experience in microbial genome engineering using latest technologies
You are a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in microbial biotechnology, synthetic biology, or metabolic engineering. You have demonstrated expertise in microbial strain engineering and are eager to contribute your skills to innovative research and development. 

Additionally, your CV comprises:

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific field
  • Proven track record of working on metabolic engineering or strain development projects involving microbial genome engineering
  • Expertise in a wide range of techniques such as CRISPR based genome editing, homologous recombination, DNA assembly methods, selection/counter-selection methods and promoter or expression elements
  • Experience in using automation instruments for strain engineering projects is advantageous
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing project and research needs.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. Starting date is 01-09-2025 (or according to mutual agreement). 

The position is limited to 2 years.
