The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) and the Royal Danish Embassy in Kenya (RDE) are seeking a Long-Term Energy Adviser to be stationed in Nairobi, with Kenya’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MOEP). Your technical skills will be instrumental in supporting the Ministry, TSO and DSO in developing and preparing for market regulation as well as operation of power system with increased share of renewable energy sources. About the Job We are seeking a profile with solid experience and expertise within either electricity market development or power system operations, with a capacity to engage across both areas. You will be stationed at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MOEP) and work with experts from local
authorities in Kenya while having a close dialogue and cooperation with the Danish Energy Agency, Energinet and the Embassy of Denmark in Kenya.
Kenya has an ambitious goal of 100% clean electricity by 2030. At the same time securing access to electricity for all. Electricity demand is expected to grow, the transmission and distribution grid expanded, generation increased while key priorities are reliability and affordability. In parallel, Kenya is developing the framework for a national electricity market and is part of the upcoming regional market - East African Power pool.
You will give technical support to MOEP and local energy authorities in this transformation, will be centrally positioned to work across Kenyan government entities together with Ministry staff, and also have the opportunity to dig deep into power system operations. You will work and make a local impact by analyzing and giving recommendations to the current power system operation and market regulations.

Long-term Advisor for Climate and Energy Policy in Kenya Long-term Energy Modelling specialist in Kenya About You We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with:
- Advanced Education: A master level degree or corresponding qualifications in energy/environmental management, economics, political science, engineering and/or subjects relevant to renewable energy could be relevant.
- Renewable Energy Integration Expertise: Solid knowledge of the Danish energy system and the Danish energy policy incl. integration of renewable energy in the power system is a requirement.
- Strong Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze complex energy systems and formulate actionable recommendations.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience in the Danish Energy Sector: At least 5 years of experience working in the Danish energy sector is a requirement.
