The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a Laboratory technologist or Medical Laboratory Technologist within biomedical research as per 1 February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a permanent part-time position.

The department employs approx. 500 people from all over the world, and they make use of the department's modern laboratory-, core- and animal facilities. The Department of Biomedicine focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration with business and industry, and numerous researchers from the department have established companies to develop new medicinal treatments founded in professional scientific basic research. Your job responsibilities

As a laboratory technician, your primary tasks will be to support the daily operation of the laboratory and to perform biochemical experiments and analyses. You contribute to the work of the research group through careful experimental planning, data documentation, and quality assurance of laboratory procedures. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues.

Your main tasks will consist of:
  • Cloning and DNA handling
  • Transfection and maintenance of mammalian cell lines
  • Protein expression in bacteria and yeast, followed by purification and characterization
  • Purification and analysis of proteins from tissue samples
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensuring the daily operation of the lab
  • Ordering and management of chemicals, reagents, and consumables
  • Training and supporting students and new group members in laboratory methods and routines
You will report to the group leader, Associate Professor Christian Brix Folsted Andersen.

Your competences

You have a background as Laboratory technologist or Medical Laboratory Technologist and experience with biochemical research.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.

Comfortable communicating in English in an international research environment.

Terms of employment and pay are regulated by the collective agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and the Public Employees’ Organisations (OAO), or the Teachers’ Central Organisation and CO10 – the Central Organisation of 2010 (the LC/CO10 Joint Collective Agreement).
