We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician (laborant) to join the Gerhart-Hines Group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), University of Copenhagen to start as soon as possible.

Our Group and research The position is available in the Gerhart-Hines Group. We are a group of 12 people investigating fundamental peripheral and neuronal signaling mechanisms that control energy homeostasis using
in vitro and
in vivo systems/models. We strive to translate our basic research findings into innovative solutions for cardiometabolic diseases and, therefore, our group has a dual academic and biotech mindset. More information about our team can be found at

Job description You will work in close collaboration with your colleagues in the team to support and assist their day-to-day research projects, particularly
in vivo pharmacology studies. In addition to being an integral group member, you will be a part of the technician community at CBMR. The job will involve both routine assignments, lab organization, assay/method optimization, development, and implementation of new protocols.
Primary tasks:
- Assist in vivo phenotyping of mice including feeding, weighing, gavage, MRI scanning, subcutaneous injections, IV injections, bleeding, tissue collection, etc.
- Genotyping of our transgenic mouse strains
- Experience with Qiaxcel equipment (Qiagen) is a plus.
- Ability to handle 200+ samples at the time using multiple probes/sample
- Trouble shooting and improvement of the protocol
- RNA extraction and qPCR
- Assist in generating and updating electronic inventory (e.g. for sample management, consumable stocks, and documents/protocols) - knowledge of Labguru (electric lab notebook system) is an advantage
- Assure safety compliance in the laboratory (GMO1 registered laboratory, e.g. generating/updating risk assessments, chemical registration and compliance using Kemibrug system)
- Contribute to general laboratory organization and maintenance such as freezer/biobank organization, unpacking deliveries, ordering, and apportioning laboratory consumables
Your profile We are looking for an interactive and highly organized technician with the following qualifications:
- An education as Laboratory Technician (laborant)
- Experience with research in mouse models (FELASA certified).
- Solid hands-on experience and documentation of laboratory work
- Documented ability to optimize processes and workflows including trouble shooting and present/implement it to your colleagues
- Ability to plan and execute laboratory work independently
- Good written and oral communication skills in Danish and English

- Solution-oriented
- Well organized (time, tasks) and ability to do proper record keeping

Terms of salary and employment The employment as Laboratory Technician is a one-year full-time position but with the possibility of extension to a permanent position based on performance. Expected starting date is as soon as possible.
Employment as Laboratory Technician (laborant) will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 3 or 4 depending on qualifications.
