The Proteomics Research Infrastructure (PRI) at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team.

About Us

The Proteomics Research Infrastructure (PRI) is a cutting-edge core facility specializing in mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics. Funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and established within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR), PRI provides open access to state-of-the-art proteomics technologies. We support researchers from project planning through sample preparation, MS acquisition, and advanced data analysis.

PRI is part of the newly launched Center for Core Facilities (CCF) and operates in a highly collaborative, international, and innovative environment. English is the primary working language.

We are now looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician (Academic Employee level) to support and further strengthen our growing proteomics pipelines.

Job Description

As part of PRI's operational team, you will contribute to efficient daily workflows and high-quality laboratory outputs. You will collaborate closely with the Proteomics Service Manager, who will be your direct supervisor.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing samples for proteomics analysis according to established protocols.
  • Handling a variety of sample types, such as plasma/serum, cell lysates, tissues, and FFPE material.
  • Preparing samples from large-scale clinical cohort studies using automated liquid handling systems.
  • Documenting all laboratory work accurately in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Ordering, receiving, and tracking laboratory consumables and supplies.
  • Monitoring stock levels of chemicals, enzymes, and buffers, and ensuring timely replenishment.
  • Registering and tracking chemicals in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinating routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation (e.g., centrifuges, pipettes).
  • Ensuring laboratory spaces and storage areas remain clean, functional, and well-organized.
  • Supporting additional laboratory or organizational tasks as needed.

As PRI continues to expand, you may also take on increased responsibility and contribute to the implementation of new workflows.

Your Profile

We are looking for a reliable and well-organized colleague who works accurately, independently, and with a strong sense of responsibility. Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in contributing to an international team are essential.

You should ideally match the following qualifications:

  • A degree as a laboratory technician, or a relevant degree in biochemistry or molecular biology.
  • Solid hands-on experience from a research laboratory environment.
  • Proven practical skills in molecular biology or biochemistry techniques.
  • Experience with proteomics workflows is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems is a distinct advantage.
  • Strong computer literacy, including experience with MS Excel; familiarity with databases is an advantage.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).

Employment Conditions

The position is a fixed-term 2-year contract with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent role. The expected start date is March 2026. The position is full-time (37 hours/week).

Salary and terms of employment follow the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Employment will be as an Academic Employee (Akademisk medarbejder).
