The Office of International Education is looking for a colleague to work as the project manager of our new project DTU-UoN Partnership for Climate Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Education. The aim is to foster learning and knowledge exchange on climate solutions for students and staff from DTU and University of Nairobi – Kenya’s largest university. This will happen through short term, semester and full degree student mobility and innovation workshops. The project is funded by DANIDA’s Knowledge and Innovation Programme, that supports the development of partnerships between Danish and African universities.

We are looking for a project manager that possesses a broad range of skills and experience with both strategic project and organizational development as well as project management - and who also has a flair for hands on administrative tasks. You will work with a multitude of stakeholders across DTU (including our innovation hub DTU Skylab), University of Nairobi as well as relevant Kenyan and Danish stakeholders. 

You will never be alone on your mission as we are a handful of engaged colleagues within our office and across DTU that will be involved in the project. The position is based in the Office of International Education, where you will join a group of 27 highly competent colleagues. Together our assignment is to create the best possible framework for strong in- and outbound student mobility and contribute to the recognition of DTU as an international elite university with a global learning environment, who equip its graduates with a strong skillset to work globally. The office is part of the Department for Study Programmes and Student Affairs (AUS) that has the mission to develop and support the educational process at DTU, with a focus on our students. 

Your task will be to have the overall responsibility of the project, which entails: 

  • Implementation and ongoing development of the project, incl. budget management and reporting to Danida
  • Anchoring the project at the Office of International Education and across DTU
  • Developing and implementing information packages to incoming students from Kenya
  • Setting up guidelines and support to logistics for students and staff, incl. visa, flights, housing and monthly allowance 
  • Welcoming students and ensuring their involvement in social activities in collaboration with DTU Culture Hub
  • Planning and coordination of innovation workshops in Denmark and Kenya in collaboration with colleagues at both universities
  • Ensure close coordination with your counterparts at University of Nairobi
  • Contribute to communication content and activities related to the project
  • Support to, and participation in meetings of the project steering committee

Our expectations of you
You are a strong candidate for this position, if 

  • You have at least 4 years of experience with all aspects of the project management cycle from development, coordination and implementation to evaluation, reporting and communication
  • Experience from managing funded projects – preferably with Danida and with African partners
  • Experience with fundraising is a plus
  • You are motivated by working with students and international student mobility
  • Cross-cultural collaboration motivates you
  • You are a network person who loves to talk to people and create new relationships
  • You have great collaborative skills and a strong diplomatic touch
  • You are highly structured and organized but also know how to tackle unexpected issues on the go
  • You enjoy a multitude of different tasks and solve them with great precision – whether they require creative thinking or administrative footwork
  • You have excellent communication skills in English

Your daily tasks will not require knowledge of Danish – but as most of the administration works in Danish, you can expect to encounter Danish at larger meetings. We therefore expect that you are currently on track to learning Danish. 

You should expect approximately ten travel days a year as part of your role, mainly to Kenya.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an Academic Officer.

The position is a full-time position with 37 working hours a week on average. Starting date is as soon as possible or on 1 April 2026.

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
