Would you like to help shape how Denmark transforms advanced research into technological solutions for national security and resilience?

DTU is looking for a proactive and visionary Innovation Officer for National Security Technologies to join a new initiative that strengthens collaboration between research, industry and the public sector. The goal: to turn cutting-edge technologies within AI, data analysis, sensors, and cybersecurity into innovative solutions that enhance both societal security and industrial competitiveness.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of national innovation, connecting world-class researchers with ambitious small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to co-create solutions that matter.

About the position
As Innovation Officer for National Security Technologies, you will play a central role in fostering partnerships between DTU’s research environments and Danish SMEs. You will help identify promising technologies, coordinate innovation activities, and support companies in bringing new solutions to market.

You will join a dynamic team spanning DTU Compute and DTU Space, and work closely with experts across academia, industry, and public institutions to accelerate the path from research to real-world application.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive collaboration between DTU researchers and SMEs on technology development and commercialization.
  • Organize innovation sprints, matchmaking events, and proof-of-concept processes that link research and industry needs.
  • Support technology transfer and dual-use innovation (civil and security applications).
  • Facilitate business development activities, including funding workshops and go-to-market planning.
  • Contribute to communication and outreach, including presenting SME success stories at events such as Digital Tech Summit.
  • Document and share learnings that strengthen Denmark’s capacity for cross-sector innovation.

Your qualifications
You are motivated by creating impact through collaboration. You thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and enjoy connecting people, ideas, and technologies.

We expect that you:

  • Hold a relevant academic degree (e.g. in innovation management, engineering, business development, or political science).
  • Have experience with innovation projects, SME engagement, or public–private partnerships.
  • Bring knowledge of or interest in technology commercialization, dual-use innovation, or security technologies.
  • Communicate effectively and build trust across diverse stakeholders.
  • Have excellent communication skills in English (Danish is an advantage).

Experience from university innovation environments, incubators, or industry clusters will be considered an asset.

What we offer in return

  • A unique opportunity to work at the intersection of research, innovation, and national security.
  • A vibrant and ambitious environment that encourages initiative, collaboration, and creativity.
  • The chance to shape a new model for innovation-driven capacity building with relevance for both national and international contexts.

Salary and appointment terms
Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

The position is full-time and fixed-term for two years. Starting date: February 1st, 2026.

The position is based at DTU main campus in Lyngby.
