1 cultural and consular affairs attaché (m/f)

Fixed-term contract to start on 1 February 2026 (or to be agreed), with the possibility of a permanent contract thereafter

40 hours per week

 

 

About your role:

 

As a Cultural and Consular Affairs Attaché, you will play a key role in representing Luxembourg’s interests abroad by promoting cultural diplomacy and providing essential consular services. This dual-function position combines cultural outreach with consular responsibilities, requiring adaptability, professionalism, and a strong sense of service.

 

Working under the supervision of the Head of Mission and Consul, you will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations through cultural initiatives while ensuring the well-being of Luxembourg citizens and residents in Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway.

 

Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

 

Cultural section

 

·         Develop and coordinate the implementation of cultural projects (exhibitions, festivals, conferences, symposiums) of the Embassy in the four accredited countries (regular travel involved)

·         Plan the financing of upcoming events and manage the budget for cultural activities

·         Organize cultural events: Design and implement cultural cooperation projects

·         Establish partnerships with local cultural institutions and coordinate with colleagues from other cultural institutions in the four accredited countries (e.g. through the EUNIC network – EU National Institutes for Culture)

·         Coordinate with relevant institutions and ministries in Luxembourg

·         Communicate and promote Luxembourgish culture and language in the four accredited countries

·         Handle requests from Luxembourgish artists or cultural institutions

·         Contribute to the annual report on cultural activities.

 

 

Consular section

 

·         Handling of passport and ID cards issuance, renewal, replacement, including the secure handling, storage and dispatch of related documentation

·         Assistance in the management of Schengen Visa applications in compliance with the Schengen Visa Code and Luxembourg’s national regulations

·         Liaising with the competent Luxembourg authorities for checks and compliance verifications

·         Manage and handle up-to-date registers as well as contact lists of Luxembourg citizens registered

·         Respond to public enquiries ensuring courteous and accurate written and verbal communication

·         Contribute to crisis preparedness and response planning including maintaining updated contact lists and communication protocols

·         Contribute to the annual report on consular activities.

 

 

Your profile:

 

·         You have completed a Bachelor level qualification or higher

·         You are fluent in English. French and Danish are a strong plus. Additional languages, Luxembourgish or German, are an advantage; other languages welcome

·          You are an excellent communicator: clear, courteous, and professional by phone, email, and in person

·         You know how to use MS Office and can maintain databases/lists accurately

·         You are detail-oriented and comfortable verifying documents and data with a very high degree of accuracy

·         You understand and apply data-protection and confidentiality requirements in daily work

·         You can handle sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and resilience

·         You take initiative and show sound judgment, including when working under time pressure.

·         You are able to work independently but are also a reliable team player

·         You are comfortable liaising with external authorities, partners and service providers.

 

 

Terms and conditions of your employment

 

·         Fixed term contract of 1 year with the possibility of a permanent contract thereafter

·         3 month probationary period

·         Full-time (40 hour/week)

·         Starting date: 1 February 2025 (or to be agreed)

·         Salary: competitive salary based on age and experience

·         Annual leave: 25 days of paid vacation per year, in addition to official public holidays

·         Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior and attitudes
