Department of Food and Resource Economics Faculty of Science University of Copenhagen Department of Food and Resource Economics invites applicants for an assistant professor position in forest economics, water management and conservation. The position is a 4 year position and is open from November 1st, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position We are seeking an environmental economist with experience in interdisciplinary applied research to work on a number of projects related to forest economics, water management and conservation. Experience with both stated and revealed preference methods are required, as well as insight into crucial topics of resilience and sustainability related to forestry. The candidate is expected to lead work related to forest ecosystem service using advanced regression techniques and impact evaluation. Furthermore, the candidate will be working on water management and economics in developing countries. It is therefore beneficial to have experience from research in both developing and developed countries.
The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication, research-based teaching with associated examination obligations in an interdisciplinary course focusing on nature, environment and society. The candidate will also contribute to public sector advisory and to a limited extent also performance of other duties.
Physical presence at IFRO is considered as a natural part of being an employee to contribute to a welcoming, socially pleasant, creative and innovative work environment. IFRO offers possibility for flexibility and working from home, but an employee is expected to regularly be present physically at IFRO.
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. The ability to attract external funding will be considered together with outreach qualifications. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory but documented teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be considered.
