reNEW, a part of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, is looking for an academic employee to join the Żylicz group starting April 1, 2026 or upon agreement with the chosen candidate for a 2-year position.
Background reNEW is an international consortium with nodes at the University of Copenhagen, Murdoch Children Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands. The Center’s mission is to develop an international targeted research center delivering innovative stem cell-driven therapies to transform the lives of people suffering from incurable diseases. Researchers at reNEW address fundamental questions in stem cell biology and translate research findings to products that will help patients with incurable disorders such as congenital kidney disorders, diabetes, heart defects, neurological disorders, chronic ulcerative conditions, respiratory diseases, bladder defects and infertility.
Job description: The academic employee will be responsible for purchasing and general stock maintenance for the whole group, which includes keeping track of orders, receiving, unpacking deliveries and approving invoices. He/she will maintain the laboratories stock database and will play a key role in tasks ensuring a good working order of the laboratory, in collaboration with the other group members. He/she will also be responsible for preparation of in-house reagents used by the laboratory and managing the team’s mouse colony.
In addition to these tasks, the new colleague will assist research projects in collaboration with PhD students and/or post-doctoral fellows. Tasks could be related to mouse developmental biology, mouse or human embryonic stem cell culture, molecular biology or immunohistochemistry, among others. The successful applicant is expected to learn new laboratory techniques and become able to use them autonomously. Furthermore, he/she will attend weekly seminars and laboratory meetings. The working hours are 37 hours per week.

Qualifications - A Master´s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a biological sciences-related discipline.
- Highly motivated candidates are encouraged to apply. The position requires some previous work experience from an established research laboratory. Skills in several of the following techniques are advantagous: cell culture, biochemistry, molecular biology (PCR, cloning), immunocytochemistry, microscopy. Experience in working with mouse models and embryology is highly advantageous.
- The position requires good computer literacy and previous experience in a similar position will be an advantage.
- The applicant should be reliable and well organized. The work requires independence and demands flexibility and accuracy. Further, you must have good interpersonal skills and interest in working in an international team.
- Knowledge of cell biology, stem cell biology or developmental biology is an advantage.
- Good English communication skills, both oral and written, are prerequisite for the successful candidate and Danish is desirable.
Terms of salary, work, and employment: The employment is scheduled to start April 1, 2026. Contract is for 2 years. The position is full-time.
The place of work is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, reNEW, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, Copenhagen.
Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Salary is based on seniority. In addition to the basic salary, a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (18,07% of the salary).
