A fulltime special consulting position is available in the interdisciplinary research center,   Center for Computational Thinking and Design (CCTD), which is a collaboration between School of Communication and Culture (CC) and the Department of Computer Science (CS) at Aarhus University, cctd.au.dk. 

The place of employment is Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University (AU), and the project is co-funded by departments of CC and CS.   
The daily work will happen in the context of CCTD and more specifically, The National Knowledge Center for Digital Technology Comprehension https://tekforstaa.dk/.
 
The objective of this center is to contribute to a shared research-based knowledge foundation for the national stakeholders engaged in digital technology comprehension education for K-12. The role of the candidate is to contribute to computing education research, related to research-based educational tools and activities for computational thinking in K-12 education, as well as to manage and coordinate research and dissemination activities and collaboration with external partners.
 
The ideal candidate has extensive experience with research related to computing education or computational thinking, preferably supported by a PhD or Postdoc. In addition, the candidate must have documented experience with research project management and with empirical/participatory/intervention-based research. Moreover, strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills are preferred. 
 

Expected start date and duration of employment  

A fulltime position in the period of 01.02.2026 - 31.01.2028
 

Job Description 

  • Contribute to conducting scientific research in Computing Education/ Computational Thinking Research  
  • Collaborate with scientists in both departments (CC & CS)
  • Manage and coordinate activities in an interdisciplinary research center.


 



Your preferred profile  

  • Preferably a PhD/Postdoc in Computing Education or Computer Science
  • Experience with conducting computing education research at different educational levels
  • Research experience in one or more of the following areas:  
    • Interaction design for computing education  
    • Design-based educational research  
    • Educational Technology research for teaching computing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate on research projects, both nationally and internationally
  • Experience with coordinating research activities across multiple stakeholders and disciplines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English 



Formalities and salary range

Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Unions.
