University of Copenhagen The University seeks to appoint an associate professor to the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and Department of Biomedical Sciences. The appointment will run from 1st June 2026 to 31st December 2033.
Job description The associate professor will work in the group of Chunaram Choudhary, and the duties will primarily consist of:
- Bioinformatic analysis of large-scale genomics datasets.
- Comparative analyses of genomes to gain insights into genome evolution.
- Conduct analyses of mass spectrometry data for proteomes and post-translational modifications, with a focus on lysine acetylation and ubiquitylation.
- Share knowledge with the rest of society, including publication/academic dissemination.
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers.

Required qualifications To be qualified for an associate professor position, you will be assessed according to these six overall criteria for recognising merit at the University of Copenhagen: Research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding, and leadership. Find

Furthermore, the candidate should have demonstrated excellent scientific productivity, evidenced by high-quality research publications, be able to conduct independent and creative research, and show good interpersonal communication skills. In considering applications for the associate professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work on an international level within the area of bioinformatic analysis of large-scale proteomic and genomic data. The appointee is required to have the following qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in natural or medical science, and research qualifications such as an associate/assistant professor or equivalent within the subject area(s).
- Outstanding scientific track record demonstrated by several high-quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
- Prior experience in the analysis of large-scale genomics data, such as Nascent RNA-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, STARR-seq, and Micro-C, will be considered distinctively advantageous.
- Prior experience in analyzing large-scale proteomics datasets is desired.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, flexibility, and confidence.
- Research-based teaching
- Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies, such as an assistant professor or equivalent within the subject area(s).
The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
Terms of employment The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 7 years and 7 months (from 1st June 2026 till 31st December 2033).
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
