Are you a student in the Global Humanities program, and would you like to support a positive study life and contribute to strengthening the study environment for your fellow students?

Then you might be the one we are looking for to work as a study environment tutor.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
The aim is to ensure a positive, safe, and inclusive experience at Roskilde University. Therefore, the institute places great emphasis on facilitating interactions between new and experienced students, allowing them to become acquainted with the resources and services available throughout their studies.

In collaboration with your co-tutor, the house coordinator, Study leader and the study environment coordinator, your main tasks will be to be the responsible tutor to help fellow Global Humanities students (many of whom have international backgrounds). You will be expected to be able to present important information to the students, plan events and social arrangements, and, importantly, be an active participant in the students’ digital platforms as a primary means of communication. It is important that you are available to the students to help with their adjustment to university and to Denmark. Taking part in the semester start period will be a key role, including during project formation. You will in general keep the students updated with important information on study activities, and in ongoing dialogue with them. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks such as:

You will be engaged in a wide range of tasks related to:
  • Serving as a link between the students of the group, the subject committee, and the course coordinator by supporting fellow students in coordinating meetings between the subject committee and the house coordinator, house meetings, etc.
  • Motivating and initiating workshops, events, and other social or academic activities, as well as facilitating and supporting students' own ideas to enhance the study environment in the house and across the Bachelor programs and all programs within the institute.
  • Supporting a good physical environment that makes it attractive to study in the institute's programs by ensuring tidy and functional buildings.
  • Ensuring that students’ information needs are met and discussing how these can best be addressed in collaboration with study environment coordinators, environment tutors, and house coordinators, including communication about events and academic arrangements on various platforms.
  • Assisting in planning and implementation of strategic study environment initiatives.
  • Referring students to RUC’s Student Hub when they need academic advice or have questions regarding exams, registrations, student grants, exchange/credit transfer, leaves of absence, etc.


We expect you to have:
  • Enrolled in the Global Humanities program and have an thorough understanding of the institute's programs as well as RUC’s educational model.
  • Independence, motivation, persistence, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Academic engagement with your education and a desire to use that engagement to inspire and involve your fellow students.
  • A willingness to develop a positive study environment and be proactive while also being able to work independently.
  • Structure and focus on your work.
  • Familiarity with RUC’s organization and various communication platforms such as Moodle, Study.ruc.dk, and Intra.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to understand and work with various stakeholders.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours, as we also have events in the afternoon and evening.
  • Experience of student governance or volunteer work at Roskilde University or elsewhere.
  • A desire to act as a sparring partner for the house's coordinator.

Employment Conditions
This is a position of 7 hours per week, reporting to the head of the secretariat, Gyrd Erik Foss. Daily work is coordinated by the institute's study environment coordinator, Søren Balslev Fransén. We offer a versatile job in an exciting educational environment. The job allows for great freedom and room for your own ideas and initiatives. The hours will be distributed throughout the semester, depending on when it is relevant to complete the tasks. There is some flexibility in scheduling hours outside your exam period. (The position is permanent, but conditional on you being an active student). A mandatory introduction and training for the job will be provided.
