Department of Computer Science at Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen is looking for a Research Consultant from 1 May 2026. The position is a central role in the SmartField project, where you will support the development of process-based models for calculating national N2O emissions.
About us SmartField is a cross-organizational research project that supports evidence-based solutions for a sustainable agriculture and aims to accelerate testing, validation and implementation of technologies and measures that reduce emission of nitrous oxide (N2O) from Danish agriculture.
Tasks You will primarily focus on developing the Daisy simulation tool to improve support for N20 modeling.
Your task will include:
- Improve and expand optimization interface of Daisy to support improved N20 process modeling
- Develop machine learning interface for Daisy to improve support for data-driven process modeling
We expect - You Hold a master’s degree in computer science, preferably a PhD with postdoc experience.
- Experience with simulation, machine learning and optimization. Preferably experience with Daisy.
- Work experience from computer science research and development environment
- Publications in computer science
- Experience with C++ and python
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaborations and research environments
- Are self-driven and have the courage to expand your professional skills
- Can work independently and is willing to take the lead
We offer: A position in a very dynamic and agile research environment in a research supporting infrastructure project, which among other things supports government services, pioneer centers and universities and bridges plant science and computer science internally at the University of Copenhagen.
Terms of salary and employment The employment and salary is made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Employment will be as a research consultant. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
