Background

The Proteomics Research Infrastructure (PRI) is a cutting-edge core facility specializing in mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics. PRI provides researchers with end-to-end support, including project consultation, automated sample preparation, MS acquisition, and advanced data analysis.

Established within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) and now part of the Center for Core Facilities (CCF), PRI operates in an international, collaborative, and innovation-driven environment. English is the primary working language.

We are now seeking a Proteomics Application Specialist (Special Consultant level) to implement and support a new spatial proteomics platform at PRI, with a particular focus on AI-assisted image segmentation, laser microdissection (LMD), and low-input sample preparation.

Job Description

As part of PRI’s operational team, you will drive the development and routine implementation of spatial proteomics workflows within our service pipeline. You will be expected to establish, operate, and continuously improve these workflows with a high degree of independence, from method development to routine service delivery. You will work closely with the Proteomics Service Manager and the rest of the PRI team, and act as the main specialist for spatial proteomics services at PRI.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing spatial proteomics workflows, including tissue handling, imaging, AI-guided ROI segmentation, laser microdissection, and downstream sample processing for MS analysis.
  • Teaching, assisting, and enabling PRI users in AI-guided tissue segmentation and LMD cutting.
  • Preparing samples for MS-based proteomics, making use of automated liquid handlers.
  • Performing LC-MS analyses on high-end platforms (Evosep ENO, Orbitrap Astral Zoom, timsUltra AIP).
  • Processing and evaluating proteomics data and contributing to data interpretation.
  • Maintaining accurate and well-organized documentation (ELN/LIMS).
  • Supporting continuous optimization and quality assurance of workflows.
  • Collaborating with PRI team members and external users to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Contributing to training, SOP development, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Performing additional tasks as required to support the daily operations and strategic goals of PRI.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate is reliable, well-organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex workflows in a structured and quality-driven laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a related life science discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Experience in developing, optimizing, and documenting laboratory protocols.
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with digital laboratory tools (e.g., electronic lab notebooks).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated motivation to independently establish and operate new experimental workflows in a service-oriented laboratory environment.
  • Service and education-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with spatial proteomics, laser microdissection (LMD), or AI-assisted image/ROI segmentation.
  • Practical experience with MS-based proteomics, including sample preparation and LC-MS operation.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems.
  • Experience in training, supervising, or guiding students or facility users.
