The Department of Biology at SDU invites applications for a permanent position as Principal Technical Developer from September 1st, 2026.
We seek an experienced and creative candidate to lead the development of chemical and optical sensors, imaging systems and in situ technology targeting coastal and deep-sea environment. Specific tasks include development, fabrication and use of microelectrodes, optodes, planar sensors and camera systems for investigating benthic biogeochemistry. The candidate is expected to participate in oceangoing expeditions, assist in mentoring students and have a natural ability to work in a large dynamic team. The successful candidate will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team of deep-sea researchers exploring deposition dynamics, microbial life and element cycling in the deep ocean.
Suitable candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology or biogeochemistry, extensive experience with experimental and in situ studies of aquatic systems. Candidates with proven experience in optical oxygen sensing and development of in situ instrumentation, and extensive field experience, will be preferred.

Employment shall take place in accordance with the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
