Postdoc of
Astrophysics and Planetary Science The postdoctoral position focuses on characterizing the chemical composition of planet-forming disks in order to place robust constraints on the origin and evolution of volatiles during planet formation. The project combines archival data analysis with newly acquired infrared and (sub-)millimeter spectroscopic observations, primarily from the James Webb Space Telescope and the Atacama Large (sub-)Millimeter Array. The successful candidate will work with high-sensitivity observations probing gas and ices in protoplanetary disks, with particular emphasis on elemental abundance ratios. Preparatory work for upcoming mid-infrared and far-infrared facilities, such as ELT/METIS and potentially PRIMA, is also envisioned. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in observational astrophysics, experience with infrared and/or (sub-)millimeter spectroscopy of protoplanetary disks, and demonstrated expertise in the analysis and interpretation of astronomical data.
The postdoc’s duties will include research within Astrophysics and Planetary Science. Teaching may be included depending on the candidate’s interests and the needs of the department.
