Faculty of Sciences University of Copenhagen We seek a postdoctoral fellow to join a project aimed at developing technology education in pre-service teacher training. It is a part time 2-year position starting 1 July 2026.
The postdoc will work in the COTEK (co-design of technology comprehension on the teacher education programme) with a focus on how cybersecurity and AI can be taught in the teacher education programme and, in turn, in elementary school. The project is part of the Center for Technology Comprehension in K-12 Education (
https://tekforstaa.dk/), a collaborative effort between the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, and the Danish University Colleges. The postdoc will work in collaboration with Prof. Morten Misfeldt and other researchers from the Center for Digital Education at the Department of Computer Science (
https://di.ku.dk/english/) and the Department of Science Education (
https://www.ind.ku.dk/english/). Part of the position will be to collaborate and coordinate with people from the teacher education programme, and to co-design educational materials with their consultants and educators. This includes conducting classroom studies where you will teach or support teachers in their teaching. The postdoc’s duties will include research as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
The Center for Digital Education works at the intersection of digitalization and learning. It brings pedagogical and institutional perspectives together with computer science and human-computer interaction. The center is part of the section on Human Centered Computing; Led by Professor Barry Brown, this is one of Europe’s leading HCI research centres and a diverse, highly collaborative group of researchers, that strives to provide a welcoming, supportive, and caring environment for all.
A broad range of skills can bring value to this project; this includes technical skills and product design experience that can be used to build functional, interactive prototypes. Knowledge about machine learning and cybersecurity, as well as skills in educational research design and qualitative and mixed methods. We seek a person that thrives in interdisciplinary collaboration, enjoy working across education, computer science, and data science, and are comfortable navigating different research environments and cultures. The position requires the ability to collaborate closely with educators in elementary schools and with the teacher education programme in co-design processes, to conduct qualitative studies alongside more quantitative approaches, and to publish in high-impact international journals. Experience with design-based research and learning theory is an advantage.
Relevant experience and skills:
- You have (or are just about to obtain) a PhD in relation to Computer Science or Education
- You are experienced in conducting research in applied settings
- You are interested in working with digital technology comprehension
- You are able to collaborate across disciplines and research environments
- You are proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
- You have Danish skills that enable you to prepare learning material and conduct empirical testing in Danish (maybe in collaboration with others).
Place of employment The place of employment is at the Department of Computer Science University of Copenhagen. Terms of employment It is a part time employment. The average weekly working hours are
22,5 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of
2 years. The starting date is 1st July 2026 or after agreement.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,000 DKK/approx. 4,700 EUR (October 2021 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18,07 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
