Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University is looking for a skilled cryo-EM applications specialist for the EMBION cryo-EM facility. We need a new colleague from 1 May or as soon as possible thereafter.
 

Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a permanent position starting 1 May 2026.
 

Job description

  • You will be contributing to implementation of cryogenic electron microscopy methods in the lab including single particle analysis cryo-EM, cryo-CLEM, cryoFIB/SEM and cryo-ET.
  • The job involves work in the EMBION cryo-EM facility as applications specialist in cryo-CLEM, cryo-FIB/SEM and cryo-TEM workflows.
  • The facility activities will be in close collaboration with national, international and industrial facility users.


Your profile

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in molecular biology or similar.
 
  • Extensive experience in the use of cryo-CLEM, cryoFIB/SEM and cryoTEM machines as well as workflows for correlative light and electron microscopy, tomogram reconstructions and cryoEM data processing is essential.
  • Documented collaboration and management skills related to facility work are important.  
  • Communication and language skills (Danish and English) are important.
 

Who we are

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas of Plant Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, RNA Biology and Innovation, Protein Science, Cellular Health, Intervention and Nutrition. There are currently 142 full time scientific staff and 80 PhD students. The department is responsible for two educations: Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine with a yearly uptake of 110 students in total.
