At The Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology (Copenhagen Campus) a full-time position as Associate professor in in real-time computer graphics and generative AI is available from July 1 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. 

The Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology has as its goal the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integrate creativity, engineering and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity, people and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user.

Your work tasks    
This position will involve working with real-time graphics, computer vision, applied AI and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into interactive applications to enhance user experiences. A primary pillar of the position is advancing synthetic data generation and augmentation pipelines using real-time graphics engines, digital twins, computer vision, XR and generative models, specifically for capturing challenging scenarios and training deep learning systems to create better experiences for human users and learners.

You will contribute to the department’s research through high-level scientific publication and by actively securing external research funding from national and international sources.

Educational tasks involve teaching within the Medialogy program across Aalborg and Copenhagen campi. This includes delivering courses in teaching programming e.g. C# and Python, real-time graphics rendering, use of generative AI as well as AI application development. Following the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, you will supervise student projects in both the bachelor and master programmes and manage semester coordination. You will also help to modernize the curriculum in areas such as programming, real-time graphics and use of generative AI. Your work will in addition include exploring how AI and LLMs can enhance student learning and creativity within PBL project-based learning environments.

Your competencies
You must hold a PhD in a relevant field and demonstrate a proven scientific track record within media technology. We expect documented expertise in real-time computer graphics and machine learning. You should demonstrate the ability to bridge technical development with reactive user-centered applications.

The ideal candidate has significant experience in teaching and supervising within the PBL framework or a similar project-based learning environments, with a documented interest in innovative teaching methods. You should possess strong technical competencies in 3D modeling, shader programming, real-time graphics and generative AI including GAN model architectures. Personally, you thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting and have the drive to lead research initiatives and organize workshops that bridge academia and industry.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor but may also be obtained in other ways. 

It is a precondition that applicants have documented research at an international standard. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.
