The Faculty of Medicine at Aalborg University (AAU) now offers postdoc positions that are open to any field of health science within the scope of the Faculty’s research areas. The selection process is entirely focused on scientific merits and strong performance in relevant skills, e.g. research management, funding, dissemination, and collaboration.
We are recruiting several postdoctoral researchers, starting 1 January 2027 or soon thereafter. The positions are available for a period of 3 years and available for candidates with a PhD from another university than Aalborg University.
The positions are open to outstanding candidates who wish to develop and lead their own independent research project within one of the faculty’s research areas. Thus, applicants are expected to propose a novel and ambitious 3-year research project aligned with the faculty’s research profile and embedded in one of the faculty’s research groups.
Who are we?
At the Faculty of Medicine (www.medicine.aau.dk), we conduct research ranging from basic health research to translational and clinical research with a focus on digital health. Apart from striving for excellence within specialized disciplines, it is our vision to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between health professionals and engineers, focusing on finding solutions to societal challenges together.
The faculty comprises two departments:
Each department is organized in a number of research groups, and the proposed research project should fit within one of these.
The successful candidates will be employed in the relevant department.
You will become part of a research group that concentrates on a specific field within the broader research areas of medicine, health science and technology.

Who are you?
You are a highly qualified and committed postdoctoral researcher who demonstrates great research potential through the drafting of a novel and ambitious 3-year research project aligned with the faculty’s research profile and fitting into one of the faculty’s research groups.
You hold a PhD in medicine, biomedical engineering, biomedicine, epidemiology, or a related field, from another university than Aalborg University.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team are expected. A high level of English proficiency (orally and written) is expected. Good dissemination skills are important.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.

Salary and terms of employment
The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (in Danish).
Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) (only in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (only in Danish).
There is a mutual probationary period of 3 months for the position.
