The Center for Optical Bio-Manipulation (COBM) an interdisciplinary infrastructure center at the interface between physics and biology at the Niels Bohr Institute seeks an innovative candidate for a position as academic employee for a fixed-term position.

The position is scheduled to start 1 March 2021 and will be available for 5 years.

About COBM
Center for Optical-Biomanipulation is based on an interdisciplinary research infrastructure granted by the NOVO foundation. The goal of the center is to provide research groups in the Copenhagen area with the very best optical facility and expertise to carry out advanced optical manipulation experiments primarily within biosciences. The research infrastructure will be used by 10 research groups, but with five core user groups from the Faculty of Health at UCPH, the Danish Technical University, the Danish Cancer Institute and from the Department of Chemistry and Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of Science at UCPH. The current position will be affiliated to the latter group, an experimental biophysics group specialized in optical manipulation of biological structures headed by Associate Professor Poul Martin Bendix. What we are looking for
We are looking for a talented, highly motivated and experienced person with strong technical and academic background with a PhD degree within physics/biophysics. The work tasks will include a variety of technical counselling tasks with people having an interdisciplinary background. The Center relies heavily on an updated and fully functional technical infrastructure like advanced superresolution microscopes whith integrated optics for optical manipulation and microfluidics. Your tasks include planning development and purchasing of equipment, including a number of different software tools which will be used at the Center. The job will involve planning and counselling the purchasing and development of a new equipment and be responsible for communication with technical companies. Your job will also include providing daily IT and technical counselling to the many users of the Center, maintaining online resources like booking system and backup systems and to organize educational workshops for the users.

It is desirable that the candidate has a strong technical and scientific background especially in optics. The ideal candidate is able to carry out counselling tasks. Additionally, the position requires comprehensive knowledge of software (e.g. Matlab, Python and Labview) used in treating typical data acquired in lifescience (long data series and 3D images).

To be considered for the position the successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills in English. As an academic employee, the candidate must in addition have relevant technical expertise and be able to advice the members of COBM in technical matters.

Terms of employment
The employment and salary is made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as academic employee. The salary is based on seniority; negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
